Simulated temperature distribution and thermal history for different heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) between insert and casting. MAGMASOFTВ® is capable of autonomously establishing robust process conditions and optimized solutions for non-ferrous sand, permanent mold and low pressure die castings regarding cast part geometry, mold and die layout, thermal control and process parameters. In the castings, both locations of the sensor systems were 2.27 cm from the metal cavity and consequently were not expected to survive in an aluminum casting with molten metal poured at 700 вЊ. The concept of building a virtual metal casting lab dates back to 2007 when MAGMASoft, a high end casting simulation software, was acquired as part of extensive bundled purchase of Finite Difference Method (FDM) machine, MK Technology, vacuum casting machine, FaroArm, and several other softwares. Based on the analysis of MAGMASOFTВ® results, the objective was to achieve new cooling channel designs with the aim to improve the slide insert lifetime and to increase the efficiency of the current production. Consequently utilizing the methodology of virtual Design of Experiments and Autonomous Optimization, robust process parameters and optimized casting layouts can be established for all. The quality and profitability of non-ferrous castings are driven by the tooling design, the gating and risering layout, the thermal control of the die and reproducible manufacturing conditions for metal treatment and alloy chemistry. In the heat treatment module of MAGMASOFTВ®, the temperature distribution in the casting during each heat treatment step is calculated based on the following parameters: Furnace temperatures Process times Process temperatures.
